This treatment is usually considered for patients who have severe seasonal allergic rhinitis (hayfever) and have not responded well to standard treatments such as:

A consultation is required before any injection is given to ensure the treatment is safe and appropriate for you.

Because the injection contains a steroid medication, it is not suitable for everyone.

what is the hayfever injection?

The hay fever injection contains triamcinolone, a corticosteroid medication that reduces the body’s allergic response to pollen. It’s sometimes known by one of its popular brand names, Kenalog.

Unlike daily tablets or sprays, this treatment works gradually to calm the immune response over time.

Many patients experience:

  • reduced sneezing and nasal congestion

  • improvement in itchy or watery eyes

  • less sinus pressure

  • better sleep during pollen season

Relief typically begins within 24–48 hours.

In many cases, symptoms improve for several weeks or even the entire pollen season.
