Frequently asked questions

Can tourists use this service?

Yes. Many visitors rely on this service for quick, hassle-free prescriptions during their stay.

Are electronic prescriptions valid in Spain?

Yes, electronic prescriptions issued by licensed doctors are valid at pharmacies throughout Mallorca and Spain.

How does the electronic prescription work?

Our practice uses secure, approved electronic prescribing software that complies with Spanish regulations. After your remote consultation, your prescription is generated digitally and sent directly to you via secure email. This system ensures confidentiality, data protection, and a seamless process for both patients and pharmacies. Only licensed doctors can issue prescriptions, and the software guarantees that all information is securely transmitted and stored.

How does the video call consultation work?

Once you book your appointment online, we will check your request and then send out a secure link for your video consultation. At the scheduled time, simply click the link from your phone, tablet, or computer—no special software or downloads required. During the call, your doctor will discuss your symptoms, medical history, and medication needs, just as they would in a face-to-face appointment. All video consultations are confidential, and your privacy is fully protected in line with Spanish and EU regulations.

Can I see you in person if needed?

Yes! I am based in Palma and offer face-to-face appointments alongside video consultations.

Can I get a prescription for any medication?

Most common and regular medications can be prescribed remotely. However, controlled substances and certain high-risk medications require an in-person visit. If you need to be seen in-person, we may ask you to arrange this (and will endeavour to find a suitable appointment with our own doctor in the first instance).

We reserve the right to decline a prescription if it is not safe or appropriate.

What if I need a refill of my regular medication?

We can provide prescription refills for most ongoing medications, provided you supply relevant medical information and history.

what information do you need from me?

Generally we need two things to issue electronic prescriptions:

  1. A copy of your official ID (passport, ID card or similar).

  2. Information about your medication (for example, a prescription, photo of medication packaging or screenshot of official healthcare app listing your medication)

which medications can you not prescribe remotely?

We can’t prescribe controlled medications remotely. This includes strong painkillers like morphine, codeine, tramadol and opioid patches like buprenorphine, as well as sedatives (like diazepam, lorazepam, zopiclone) among others.

We also only prescribe for new problems (e.g. infections) remotely in very limited circumstances.
