Why regular sti screening matters
Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are common and often show no symptoms. Regular sexual health checks are the only way to protect yourself and your partners. Early detection means faster treatment and peace of mind.
Most STIs have no symptoms—don’t rely on how you feel.
Testing after new or unprotected encounters is recommended.
Quick, simple tests can make a big difference to your health.
frequently asked questions
when should i get an sti screen?
If you’ve had a new partner, unprotected sex, or simply want peace of mind, regular screening is recommended. We’re happy to advise on the best timing for your situation.
You may also need testing if you have any symptoms of a sexually transmitted infection.
how soon after exposure can i get tested?
Different infections can take varying amounts of time to show up on STI testing. As a rule of thumb, most infections can be detected between 2 weeks and 3 months from exposure.
How does testing work?
Here is the process:
Arrange a call or appointment with the doctor (video, phone call or in-person). This is to discuss your testing needs and ensure that we are providing the right services for you.
Attend our partner lab in Palma city centre for testing. This usually includes a blood test and urine test.
We will get in touch with your results via your chosen method of contact. This usually takes 2-3 working days.
If needed, we will arrange a follow-up appointment with the doctor. Electronic prescriptions can be issued if needed.
is my visit confidential?
Absolutely. We provide a discreet, judgment-free environment and never share your information without consent. We follow Spanish data protection standards, and use software and storage solutions specifically designed for the medical industry.
We will ask you how, where any when you would like to receive your results.
Can i get tested if i don’t have symptoms?
Yes! Most people with STIs have no symptoms. Regular checks are the best way to stay healthy.
can i get emergency contraception?
Yes you can, however you don’t need to book an STI screen to get the morning-after pill. Here in Mallorca, you can buy emergency contraceptives from pharmacies without a prescription (and it’s best to do this as soon as possible). We unfortunately do not fit copper coils.
is the practice LGBTQ+ friendly?
Yes! We aim to offer a safe, inclusive space for everyone. We understand and respect diverse sexualities and gender identities, and tailor our advice and care to your needs.
I’m really anxious about getting tested.
We understand. Many people find STI testing difficult, and we are aware that this process often comes with a lot of emotional challenges.
We take a trauma-informed approach to practice and our job is to listen to you and help you find the best solutions possible. For most people, STI screening does not require any genital examination and can be done through a simple blood test and urine test.
If you are unsure about getting tested or what it entails, you can always reach out to us to ask.
